This trek will take you to Phobjikha valley which is at 3000 m. This is one of the few glacial valleys of Bhutan. It is the chosen home of the rare black necked cranes which migrates to the valley in winter from Tibetan. The valley of Gangtey is one of the most beautiful places in Bhutan and the Gangtey Gompa monastery is the only Nyingmapa monastry in the western Bhutan. This moderate trek also leads you to the village of Gogona & Khotokha passing through meadows and field, forest of magnolia, rhododendrons and juniper.
It is the most beautiful low level trek in Bhutan.

Day 01: Arrive Paro
The flight into Paro by Druk Air – Bhutan’s National Airline, is a befitting introduction to the stunning beauty of our country. On a clear day, one can have brilliant views of the world’s highest peaks. The Paro International Airport (where you will lend) lies in the lush green valley of Paro. Your local escort from Bhutan Travel Connection will receive you on arrival, and then drive you to your Hotel. Afternoon – Visit Paro Dzong, The National Museum and Kichu Lhakhang.
Evening – free time.
Day 02: Paro – Thimphu
The drive from Paro to Thimphu (Capital of Bhutan), will take around 2 hours. The lunch will be served at Hotel. In the afternoon, visit Memorial Chorten, dedicated to late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, Painting School, National Library, Tashichho Dzong.
If time permits – visit Motithang zoo and Sangay Gang ( Thimphu view point)
Day 03: Thimphu – Gangtey
The drive from Thimphu to Gangety will take approximately 5 hours. En-route stop at Dochula pass (3050m), from where one can have a specticular view of Himalayan ranges (if the weather is clear). Drive pass Wangdi Phodrang Dzong. Overnight at Hotel in Gangtey OR camp outside.
Day 04: Gangtey – Gogona
Very soon after we start, we will have to ascend to Tshelela pass. Then the trail descends gradually through the forest of Magnolia, Juniper, Bamboo and Rhododendron. Our campsite will be at Gogona village. People of this village were originally nomads. Walking time: 6-7 hours.
Day 05: Gogona – Khotokha
After crossing Shobjula pass (11155 ft), we will be descending to a wide valley of of Khotokha. Summer place for the people of Sha ( District Wangdi Phodrang). Walking time will be approximately 6 hours.
Day 06: Khotokha – Chazam/Wangdi
We will cross Mulaila pass (9200 ft) after a short walk. Then our trek will be entirly descending through sub-tropical vegetation till the Teki Zamap bridge. Our trek ends here.From this bridge, we will drive to Wangdue/Punakha. If time permits visit Punakha Dzong. Ovenight in Phunakha/Wangdue.
Day 06: Wangdue – Thimphu
The drive from Wangdi to Thimphu will take approximately 3 hours. In the afternnon, free time to stroll through the Thimphu town and to buy souvenirs. We can vist Handicraft Emporium for that.
Day 07: Thimphu – Paro
The drive from Thimphu to Paro is 2 hours. While in Paro, we can hike up to Taktsang monastery. This hike will be a 2 hours hike. This monastry which is popularly known as Tiger’s Nest, clings precariously to a granite cliff 900m above the Paro valley. And drive to Drukgyal Dzong (the victory fortress) which is now in ruins. It is about 16 Kms aways from Paro town. On a clear day one can get a breath-taking view of Mt. Jhomolhari while you drive to Drukgyal Dzong. Late afternoon- visit farm house. Overnight in Paro.
Day 08: Departure
Bhutan Travel Connection representative will see you off at the airport.
